This store for the original snowboarding brand, Burton Snowboards, is located in the heart of the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco. The design transformed the interior of what was once an apartment into a Vermont inspired snowboard shop. The storefront signage and graphics were designed to reflect the heritage and the existing architecture.
The two level interior plays tribute to Burton’s Vermont roots. The lower level design is reminiscent of the interior of a sugar shack with a slanted metal ceiling, reclaimed wood beams and the rustic feeling of rural Vermont. The second floor is reminiscent of a vintage ski lodge, Boots are displayed amongst wooden logs, and the artist collaboration boards surround a cozy fireplace. The details within the space highlight both the architecture as well as the history of the brand throughout the store. In collaboration with designer Sarai Grenell.
