I am the founder of Verdego Design, LLC. For the past 17 years I been working with clients to define and bring to life a unique sensibility across retail, commercial and residential design. After finishing architecture school 18 years ago, I soon realized that I didn’t want to do architecture in the traditional way. I’d studied photography and worked in the fashion industry in NYC and Barcelona before moving to Los Angeles to study architecture, and I was determined to find a way that allowed me to merge my passion for both fashion and architecture. I love to discover new and unique items and experiences. When I travel, I am always wandering into stores – seeing what’s there, seeing what’s new, and seeing what’s different. Through this pattern of exploration and discovery, I experience not only the stores but also the lifestyle and culture of their community. This process of examination inspires me to create unique as well as authentic spaces that tell a story.
From a young age I have loved making floor plans, furniture layouts, and elaborate drawings for theatric performances. This passion led me to study art Tufts and the Museum School of Fine Art, where I created installations and performances in New York and Boston. These pieces were recognized as unique in their ability to tell a strong narrative and transport the viewer to a different place.
Living in New York, I began expanding from temporary installations to applying the same craft and narrative technique to designing more permanent objects, including trays, table tops, and textiles. In moving to LA I fully committed to creating beautiful environments and have worked in the design industry for the last 13 years designing textiles, wallpaper and some furnishings.
Today I continue to create and show my original artwork, and the dialogue between art and design continues to grow.
